    Is it ok to use the MF system on single stage paint?

    If it's a factory single stage it should be okay.

    Do a test spot(s) first to make sure there are no surprises after buffing entire vehicle.

      I think it would be ok to use it with single stage paint. Just make sure to clean your pad often, if not more than normal.

        While it should be perfectly fine to do this, just keep in mind that single stage paints are often softer than a catalyzed clear coat so some hazing of the finish may occur. So much depends on the actual paint, it's age, condition, etc. Remember, always do a test spot first to see if a given product/process combo is the right one for the paint you're dealing with.

          I recently used the MF system on my 2001 black Lexus. It is factory single stage. I needed some significant correction my the hood and trunk. True to what Mr. Stoops warned, it did leave the paint hazy. So I then cleared up the haze with UC and the 8207 pad. This combination gives me an LSP finish every time on this car. It was an extra step but I needed the extra cut that I got from the MF system. Good luck.

            It should be noted that the single stage paint on this car - and Lexus has had this SS black paint for several years now - is vastly different from the classic single stage lacquer paints we so often discuss here on MOL. The Lexus paint is a modern, catalyzed paint so even though it might be fairly easy to haze it's still going to be a fair bit harder than those old lacquers.

            But here's a handy tip to try next time you work on the car: use D300 Microfiber Correction Compound on the W8207 pad and see where that gets you. I've done this on a Benz with fairly delicate paint that was easily hazed by the microfiber cutting disc but it absolutely loved this combo. Might save you a step and still give you an outstanding finish.
