  • Spotting on Clear Coat.

Recently purchased a custom Harley Davidson with Custom Harley paint. The Bike is an 07 and the paint is in good condition. I made the mistake of hand waxing the tank with Carnauba wax without using a cleaner or clay bar first. I'm now considering using a clay bar (which brand ?) with Meg. Final Inspection then using Meg. Ultimate Polish Pre Wax Glaze to remove the spots and then re-wax. Am I on the right track ?

      Well, its not that bad...

Meguiars of course... If you are going to buy separately, then you want the Professional Mild Blue Clay.

Otherwise, can go with the Smooth Surface clay kit.

      Yeah, generally you want to:

      1. Wash
      2. Clay if needed
      3. Cleaner/Polish - Ult. Polish for mild cleaning, Ult. Compound if something stronger were needed for defects.
      4. Wax
      5. Wax - 2 thin coats are best.

What sort of spots do you have on there currently?

Give it a shot with the mild cleaner then, and see what happens. Can step up a bit of needed.
