Re: What is your winterizing routine? As Aaaaaaaa
Sorry about the mix up, having technical problems with the tablet, moved over to the pc. What I was hoping to get started was a dialog regarding people's winterizing rituals. What do you do to prepare for the rigors of the upcoming winter weather in your area? I just finished a two bucket Ultimate wash & wax followed by a claying and Ultimate Liquid Wax. I also pulled the wheels and did a thorough cleaning and Gold Class Carnuba Wax Plus both inside and out. I plan to follow up with an overall Gold Class Carnuba Wax Plus then call it quits other than an as required / weekly Ultimate Quick Detail and Ultimate Quick Wax. Does that sound reasonablew? What routine do you suggest for the winter?Just point me in the right direction ...

sounds very reasonable, I would do about the same steps
I would say that you have done a very nice winter prep
one thing to consider with the wheels is that carnaubas typically have a lower melt point than the polymer based products
Next time you do a thorough detail on the wheels consider trying out your Ultimate Liquid wax on them
Do you have any pictures of the car? If so post them up

Thanks for the reply. That's a pretty good point about the carnuba vs polymer for the wheels. I guess that old habits die hard in that I never thought about it that way when planning my wax attack. It just seemed logical at the time that a paste for the wheels would be better than a liquid. I'll definitely make a note to myself for the next go-round. No pictures yet but a good idea for later, after I finish up with the final application of the carnuba. BTW, what is the difference between the Gold Class Carnuba Plus and the Yellow wax?Just point me in the right direction ...

I am still a bit confused about the difference between the GC Carnuba Plus and the Hi-Tech Yellow Wax. Looking at the label for the GC it says "Exclusive blend of carnuba plus protecting polymers." The Yellow Wax says "contains polymers, resins and silicones for extraordinary durability." I clayed the trunk and the hood of the daily beater, an 02 VW Passat in pretty good condition, then applied a coat of the #7 Glaze on each. GC Carnuba Plus paste on the trunk and Yellow Wax liquid on the hood. They both look fantastic with a slight edge, maybe, to the Yellow Wax as far as overall shine but I think that favor the GC as far as depth and feel. When I run my hand over the Yellow Wax it is smooth but dry feeling. Running my hand over the GC it is just as smooth but has more of a "live" feel to it. Not wet but certainly not as dry as the Yellow. It's hard to put into words exactly but I just like the feel of the GC over the #7 rather than the Yellow wax. I know it's all subjuctive but it's also fantastic that there are so many different Meguiar's products available to play with and experiment with.Just point me in the right direction ...
