I put touch up paint on some of my larger rock chip areas where the paint has come off. I won't lie, the paint sort of blobbed on. I thought if I give it time to dry and then wet sand it I could level it off and then polish the area etc. The problem is; tomorrow will make it one week since I put the paint on and it still hasn't dried as yet. When I press the area lightly with a toothpick it still tends to sink in! Do I sand it? Do I wait more? Do I take a hair dryer to it? Help please.....

Re: How long does paint take to dry???
There is no simple answer. Some paint doesn't just dry, it cures. Temperature and humidity are big factors.
Want my opinion? Touch up paint sux. Research dr. Colorchip. Go to drcolorchip.com. It seems too good to be true, but it works. I just broke down and tried it after finding great reviews on this forum and at least 3 other car forums. Clean off the touch up paint and try this. You will be glad u did.

Re: How long does paint take to dry???
If the area isn't to large (yes, that IS subjective, sorry) try to remove the top of the glob. By exposing a new area, it MAY cure for ya. If the area is larger, just try and remove as much as you can, without making to big of a mess.
After is does finally cure, sanding will be in order. Just try and sand the ONLY the spot.
Dr Colorchip is a good product. I have no idea of its' availability in you part of the world. Guessing kinda spendy, shipping etc.
A trick you can try with the touch up paint us to get a reallllly fine artist brush and just put a tiny drop of paint into the area. Doing it this way, it will take a few applications to get it (the spot) filled.
Make sense?
