But as was also stated in that article, and something we've stated repeatedly here on MOL, if a manufacturer explicitly states that their synthetic should only be applied to paint that is stripped of all other polishes, waxes, etc then you should follow those directions. For the record, Meguiar's has never made this recommendation for any of our waxes or sealants.
Hey... the former forum Admin chiming in... LOL

Thanks for clarifying what I wrote years ago probably at the climax of the Zaino versus NXT wars of which I'm a seasoned veteran.... here's the actual article and it was posted in 2005, hard to believe it was that long ago...

Do Glazes/Fillers affect the bonding of NXT?

I recently wrote two related articles to the above article about doing IPA wipe-downs and the topic of miscible and imissible products. I don't think I have posted them here on MOL but I could if there's interest. Once of the things I stressed in both articles however was the point Mike Stoops makes and that's to simply follow the manufactures recommendations as they know their products best... not someone posting under an anonymous nickname on a discussion forum.

Here's a direct quote as to how I worded it as words are so very important on discussion forums...

The first and primary consideration goes to the manufactures recommendations. If the manufacturer of a wax or paint sealant officially recommends that the surface of the paint must be stripped clean before their product can properly bond to the paint, then you should follow the recommendations of the manufacturer as they know their products best.

If the manufacturer does not specifically recommend that a painted surface needs to be stripped clean, then whatever recommendations they do provide should be followed as they know their products best.

To my knowledge, there are only a few manufacturers in the wax and paint sealant business that recommend that the surface of automotive paint be surgically clean and bare before their products can be applied. Besides these few companies, most manufacturers either recommend to apply their wax and/or paint sealant to the paint after first using their surface prep products which can include, compounds, polishes, paint cleaners and pre-wax cleaners. And of course, sometimes there are no specific recommendations.

One thing I caution people about is to not turn washing and waxing your car into Rocket Science... it doesn't have to be that complicated.

The titles of the other two articles are,

Miscible and Immiscible - Wax and Paint Sealant Bonding

How to Mix IPA for Inspecting Correction Results

Copying and pasting the above titles into Google will pull them right up. But if there's interest I can post them here too...

There's interest. It would be really beneficial to everybody on The Forum.

That's really funny. I'm guilty of over thinking some aspects myself.
Congratulations on your new book, Mike.

YES! We should start writting MythBusters and see if they could do a test on different products. That would be AWESOME
