  • how long do pads last

How long do 4 in pads normally last? Does any one know which ones last longer, if not meguiars? (No offense meguiars) i use a pc 7424xp. Im talking about cutting pads and polish pads, the black pads you dont need pressure so they should last longer.

Such a difficult question to answer regarding any pad - how much surface area are you covering; what speed; what pressure; how are you washing/drying; are you using them on a DA or rotary? We've been in situations with limited pads and liquids available and had to get fairly abusive, basically killing off a single polishing pad on one car. Very extreme, yes, but it just illustrates the point.

But just to avoid appearing as though we're dodging the question, we'll say that under "normal use" (however you wish to define that) we'd say the lifespan of the smaller pads is right about the same as the larger ones. But considering that you may well cover less square footage with a 4" pad during a particular detailing session than you would with a larger pad (think a-pillars and bumpers covers versus multiple entire body panels) we'd figure that you'll probably be buying larger pads more often than you'd be buying the 4" pads.
