  • Best touch up method?

Today I dropped my keys while getting something out of the trunk. The keys hit the plastic bumper (it's painted glossy white). There is a small circular dent/scratch now, probably a little larger than a ball point pen tip. Because the car is white the spot looks grey now. What is the best way to touch this up or should I visit a professional? Thank you!!

Hmm, if the paint is chipped off, then he best solution would be touch up paint available at the dealership, if the "grey" mark is a result of the key hitting the bumper, may be able to buff off.
Got pics? If it's the size of a ball point pen tip....must be really really small?....

A pic would help. But if you are seeing a bit of gray surrounded by white a paint you may have chipped into the primer. Can you catch a fingernail on it? If you need to get touchup paint you can go to your dealer or a local auto parts store for a small bottle of touchup paint. They come in a ball point pen type applicator on one end and a small brush on the other. May be perfect if in fact you have a small chip.

Use the Dr Colorchip repair system. A lot easier to use and great results.

More than you really need to know. But is the best information available.

If your "nick" is as small as you say...Clean the area with alcohol and apply a very small dab of paint with a paper match which you have cut to a sharp point or apply with a very fine artist's brush. Maybe it will take a couple of "coats". Carefully sand level and then polish. But in most cases when I have a nick this small, I simply apply the small dab of paint and forget about it. Oh, I'm darn fussy too.
