  • wax not drying

searched around for help but didn't have any luck. I have been detailing as a side job for about 2 months. I never had a problem until recently. I have been noticing that after waxing (porter cable d/a w/ meg soft buff finishing pad and hi tech wax), when i go to wipe off the wax it doesnt all come off.

When I wipe off using microfiber towels it gets all it can off, but when looking at it in the light you can tell there is still wax on it. Also, if I rub my fingers on it it leaves a finger print. I thought using some last touch would help but no go. I am worried what could be wrong as I am doing a good amount of cars. Like I said, I have never had this happen until recently.

    Any ideas"???

    Thanks,
    Ben

Has anything about your application process changed? Temperature? Humidity?

Sounds like you just have some streaking. How long are you allowing it to dry?

the other day, i did my truck with NXT 2.0 wax.it just seemed to not turn a little white like it does when dry.
looked same 6 hrs later,so i let it dry overnight.
          next day it was white.

i believe DAMP,COLD WEATHER was reason.it was in garage at daytime temps of 65 and night at 50 here in pa.

              Re: wax not drying

Number one cause of this problem is too much wax. Most people think they are using thin layers but are in reality using 2-3 times as much wax as they need. You truly need a WHISPER thin coat that should be difficult to see in some lighting. Proper, thin coats of wax will solve 99% of removal/streaking issues.

If that ever fails, a slightly damp (water only) microfiber towel with a quick wipe-down should do the trick.
