Detailer problem I think?

Hey guys,

I am new here and look forward to absorbing all the knowledge I can from you guys. I have a big problem that I need desperate help with. I am a newbie to detailing so bare with me please. I have a 2006 Chevy z71 Black. When I bought it, the previous owner took very good care of it. Had it waxed on a regular basis. The paint had a deep black shine. So after every time I washed the truck, I used Armor All Wash and Wax Detailer on it. It seemed to work very well.
Now before everybody jumps on me, I now know about Armor All products and will always use Meguiar's products from here on out. Back to my problem. I didnt wash the truck for a few months and let it get pretty dirty. So then I washed it, The truck looked great while wet. But once it dried, It looked terrible. It has a bad haze on the paint. Kindof like water spots and kindof like mildew or mold. I have used some mild detergents to try and get it off but with no luck. Do you think it was the AA detailer that did this or could it be something else. And how in the world can I get it off? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It may have been your technique of washing and all that. You may have instilled scratches and swirls. I would recommend washing it first with one of Meguiars high quality washes either Gold Class Shampoo and Conditioner or Ultimate Wash and Wax. Then clay the car using Smooth Surface Clay Kit. Next Polish with SwirlX. Then slap a coat of Ultimate Wax, NXT Tech Wax or Gold Class Carnuba Plus Wax.

Pics could help if you can get an image that shows it.

But as mentioend above, just going over it with a godo detail is the place to start.

1. Wash
2. Clay
3. Clean - SwirlX
4. Wax
5. Wax

Of course check after the clay and clean steps, to see if it is helping the problem.

You letting it get dirty and not washing it for a long period of time allowed all that old glaze & wax to be removed and expose your true problem ( swirls, marring, oxidation)

The truck probably needs to be polished but for right now just re washing, claying, and using a good cleaner wax would be a start.

Thanks for all the info guys. Great advice. I am currently reading up on the forums and learning all the basics. I will take pictures after I wash it again tomorrow.

Great, pictures will help. I have tried that Amor All soap and did not care for it, I didn't find it left much wax protection behind, if any, and don't feel like it did a great job of cleaning. My car has still seemed dirty after using it.

"Once it dried"? Does that mean you just let it air dry, or did you actually dry it with proper towels?
