  • Armor All Extreme Tyre Shine...

Bought a can of Armor All Extreme Tyre Shine about three weeks ago. Sprayed my new tyres with it after self detailing my car. This was about 4 days ago. Got home today from work and whilst giving my car a quick dusting I noticed black specs around the bottom area of both front doors, and the rear side panels.

After quickly trying to clean of all the specs I worked out that it was this tyre shine I sprayed on my tyres. That was four days ago!!! Didn't spray alot; once around the tyre and that was it. Allowed it to dry for approximately 20-25 minutes. And then it's had around 3 more days to dry after that! So why the hell is this thing spinning off onto my car body parts?? Definitely won't be using this product again!

P.s - Bought this product before I got hooked on Meguiars...

Thats ok, it can get moved later.

Any tire shine has the possibility of doing that. Might take trying a few different products to see which one agrees best with your tires. Also, you may want to kind of blot around the tires with an old towel to help get off any excess after applying.

Because the product your using is of low quality IMO.

I have seen that sling off from that exact product damage paint.

Sounds like you didn't go back and wipe off the excess, which is probably the main reason, but as Tuck said that Armor All stuff is not much chop.

Try the Meg's Endurance Tyre Shine and wipe off the excess and it should be all good.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

If I had let that dry any longer on the paint work it would have definitely done more permanent damage. Lesson learnt though to wipe of excess. Definitely going for the Meg's product next!!

Re: Armor All Extreme Tyre Shine...

OK, we've moved the thread to the proper forum section.

With that out of the way, let's look at what's going on with this product. Depending on the chemistry of the product it may never truly "dry" like a water based product will, so if it's put on a bit thick or it gets a bit of build up in fine raised graphics on the sidewall, it's going to come out once a certain speed is reached and physics takes over. Every single tire shine product on the market can be made to sling, or applied in such a way that it won't sling. Wiping off the excess is always the way to go just to be sure you don't have any build up hiding in those raised graphics, just waiting to fly off later on.

While I do not like shinny tires, all I can say is .....Nonsense...IMO

Re: Armor All Extreme Tyre Shine...

Some tires have a lot of narrow sipes around the sidewalk that collect excess product. I use a brush to wipe out these sipes and around the raised lettering where excess product will accumulate. Get the excess product off the tire and you won't have sling issues.

I have nothing against Armor All, but I have seen that product damage paint when used on a regular basis.

Why do you find that so hard to believe?
