  • How to get wax stains off of plastic trim...

So 6 months ago, I used #26 hi-tech wax to wax my 2011 Jeep Wrangler 4 door.

I made the novice move of getting it on the fenders, door handles and mirrors.

Nothing on this earth has been able to remove the stains it left on the plastic. I am so unbelievably pissed, that my brand new black car looks horrible because it is stained in white all over the fenders mostly. It even stained my side step rock sliders, which are powdercoated metal.

I have called customer support multiple times

    So far I have used

    Mothers back to black
    Peanut Buttler
    WD40
    #39 heavy duty vinyl cleaner
    Goo gone

they told me today to try simple green with a tooth brush but honestly I am worried I will be wasting even more money. I've probably spent $30 on ******** products that they guaranteed me would take this garbage off...

I hope someone has a solution im really upset by this...

I would suggest Meguiar's APC (or simple green like they said) with a tooth brush. Agitate it really well.

If you did all that, not sure much else will help, other than some time. How heavy was it put over the palstic?

I've used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, dampened with paint thinner (mineral spirits).

I used APC+ to remove polish/wax from black plastic and the black rubber seals around a window.
Sprayed onto a cloth, wiped it on the stained area, rubbed well, then wiped off.
          Has been perfect since.

          Edited for spelling errors.

I would try some APC & a scrub brush.

If that does not work then give some Purple Power at 1:1 a try, scrub, then power wash if you have one.

And a last resort would be something a little more harsher.

Try putting some #26 on your problem areas and wiping off immediately. Likes like.

Re: How to get wax stains off of plastic trim...

I am not looking to get degreaser anywhere on my paint.

                        Its highly corrosive.

Im going to try gasoline and wd40 seemed to do a little bit.

Simple green didn't work at all so tack on another $6 waste.

Meguiars support has been useless for anything but wasting my money. Im gonna call and ask to speak with a manager today.

It's one thing that it stained my fenders, but my powdercoated side steps wtf?

an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure..................................its better to spend a little time and tape off those areas.

Simple green, small stiff bristle brush, and lots of elbow grease. Scrub harder if its not working.

For whatever reason, Jeep Wrangler trim just loves to hang on to wax and in some cases even mud itself. You're going to have to step up to a degreaser. The easiest degreaser to use would be Dawn Dish Washing Soap.
