  • 5th Wheel Camper Detailing Questions

Hey all! It's been a while...

I tried searching, but came up with mixed results. My friends father has a 25' or 28' camper with a pull-out section. It has been sitting outside for ~10 years, never washed or cleaned, under trees and so on up here in the mountains. I don't know how to tackle this thing, or with what? Are they usually a clearcoat like a car, or are they a gelcoat? He would like the exterior cleaned (not sure about waxing, but if so, it'd probably be a one-step), as well as the interior. What is a reasonable rate to charge to clean these things? I thought about calling local detailers and seeing what they charge, and then beat their prices basically.

Thanks for any help and suggestions!

I'm guessing the 5er is white, so 90% sure it is gel-coat only. The 'missing' 10% is for SOME that are clear coated. Normally the high-end units are the only ones that are cleared.

Something that has been sitting outside for that length of time is gonna be a job. Very doubtful any one step is gonna bring it back fully.

Try M-67 (One Step Compound) with an LC orange pad for starts. One Step only comes in a quart bottle (just saying that so you don't start hunting for a 6 oz jug).

Just think of it as a boat that is land locked.

Keep us up dated on how it works out...

I'll test spot D151, though based on what you say, I won't be expecting much. If I have to compound, I'll go with M105 unless he wants to buy the Marine/RV stuff. I still haven't heard if a full exterior detail is wanted or not; guess I'll just have to swing by and talk FTF.

What about this "black streak remover" stuff they have for RV's?

Good ol' 'black streaks'...Those things seem to be part of ownership of an/a RV. Usually they are from dirt and such on the roof dripping down the the sidewalls. Doing the "cleaning and waxing" will remove them. To be honest, I've never had to use 'black streak remover'. I may just be lucky.

I've never tried 105 on 'glass', don't know why I haven't, just haven't. Definitely should work.

Though I've yet to have a go with them, people are having have good luck using the MF system (maybe next spring/summer).

An Rv sitting neglected that long...going to be bad. I'd START with the most agressive product. As to the black streaks....not all are equal and you may never get them totally off.
