  • Pin Stripes.... product buildup how to remove?

Got me a new (well newer to me) truck, a 2006 Ford F150 Supercrew, color "Aspen Green". Previous owner had a bad experience with a utitlity trailer and I had the fender repaired. The body guy did a good job but around the pin stripes on the fender it looks like some product buildup from when he buffed it. I was thinking of using a tooth pick and some quick detailer and carefully, slowly try to get the buildup off.
    Any hints?

On another note the truck after being clayed, cleaned and then waxed with NXT looks great. I tried the Ultimate Detailer yesterday and it really makes it shine, not quite as saran wrapped looked as the ol quick detailer that I used on my Red 01 Supercrew.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

I would be afraid the tooth pick may "pull up" or damage any loose areas on the pin stipping. I would try a stiff tooth brush instead.

I usually use a Meguiars detailing brush on removing wax. Spray some QD on the surface and go back and forth along the pin stripe until the buildup is gone.
      Don't get caught riding dirty!

I would just use a microfiber towel and rubbing alcohol myself. No need for anything physical most likely, especially if it is somewhat fresh. It should wipe right off. Just be sure to re-wax the area carefully and then properly remove the wax from the edges before it is too late.

Thanks for the advice. I think that I'll try Mark's advice first and if that isn't enough I'll try the brush.

Actually, my method mixes both of the above. I'll use a corner of a MF cloth backed by a toothbrush. That way you get the stiffness of the brush, but a safe texture contacting the paint. I use mineral spirits, but there's nothing wrong with alcohol.
