Is a double layer of polish any benefit?

There has been conversation on this forum regarding the benefit, or lack of it, to do two coats of wax.
My question is: If I use UP which is a polish and light abbrassive, do I get any benefit from laying down a coat of #7 show car glaze after the UP prior to waxing, or is the UP alone going to give the same results?

Ehh.. maybe.

A lot of it would depend on your eyes, and how it looks to you.

But in general you wouldnt get much benefit on a modern clear coat. Some people may see it, esp on black colors, but just up to you. On an old or SS paint surface, is where you would get more of the maybe, and could be worth a test spot/panel to check.

Up until this Spring, I've ALWAYS used M-7. It just plain worked as advertised. Been using the stuff for at least 40 years too.

That said...this Spring I tried UPolish (in place of 205). The end results with UP was equal (in my eyes) to M-7. Oh, this was on a black vehicle.

If we are talking single-stage...can't answer, but will venture to say, stay with M-7.

We always say that the use of a pure polish is an optional step. While it can and does make a dramatic difference on dark colors, especially single stage dark colors, on a lighter clear coat color most people can't see much of a difference in the final appearance. That said we know of some folks with silver cars who use a pure polish regularly (along with other prep steps, of course) and they have some of the shiniest, brightest silver cars you've ever seen!

So, depending on color and how keen your eye is, and whether you're willing to put in the extra time for an optional product, it's sort of up to you whether it's "worth it" or not.

When our club has g2g's the other silver cars just do not have that little bit of extra shine. I feel that that is due to the #7. Silver will always be silver, However mine always looks better. LOL
