How do we protect the car door sill plates?

The ones on my Mercedes are silver. I usually wipe them down with water occasionally.
Not sure the material they made out of so I have no idea what product I should use as protectant.

On my G35, i have a brushed aluminum sill plates....I avoid stepping on them, and wipe down with a damp MF cloth after a wash....still look new after 6 yrs......I think i hit it a few times with UQW or UQD...

If UQW works, maybe I can apply wax to it...

Probably best staying with UQW due to the ease of application. Depending on the exact configuration of your sill plates a conventional wax could be a pain to use; some sill plates get fairly detailed with a lot of relief, texture, and other places for wax to build up and dry. Since UQW won't dry white on trim or build up in tight spaces, and since it's got great longevity and protection, it's the perfect product for not only sill plates but door jambs in general and anywhere else that's a bit tight to reach.

I could echo Mike's answer. Some door sills are either painted, anodized or some kind of plastic, UQD/UQW is the ticket.

I swipe them with Opti Seal really quick if I remember.
