  • I want the best shine by hand, advise please

Just went to Las Vegas Car Care. Awesome store but very confusing on all the products. I have a lot of time on my hands and ready to give my car the works. I have the NTX line and the mild clay bar. So I plan on washing, claying, polishing, waxing the car. Where I get lost is what do I do a week after that when the car doesn't need a wash but you want to spruce it up a pit. What products should I use to really enhance the wax? Thanks

If your car is still relatively clean after a week (i.e. no road grime, you haven't driven in the rain, but it's a bit dusty), you could use a product such as Ultimate Quik Detailer and a quality microfiber towel to clean it up. You can also follow that with Ultimate Quik Wax to maintain the layer of wax that is already on the car.

With both products, you'll want to work panel by panel, lightly misting the surface and carefully wiping with an MF towel. Then, flip the towel over to a clean side for a final wipe, or use a second towel altogether for that purpose (this is my preferred method, as by the time I get halfway through QDing my car, the towel that I used for the initial wipe gets saturated with enough product to prevent me from completely removing the product residue from the surface of the car).

Also, when using UQD, make sure to flip over to a fresh side of your MF towel if you see any dirt begin to build up - you definitely don't want to keep rubbing the same dirt against the paint as you work around the car. I tend to use a fresh side for each panel to minimize the potential for scratching.

If I just have a weeks worth of dust on the car do you hose it off first just to be safe?

I would not QD after a week... wash only.

        Then UQW after.

Honestly the best thing to do is just to wash weekly, if the car is already clean washing is very, very fast, and less likely to put swirls in the paint (assuming your wash technique is good) than you are trying to rub off a weeks worth of dirt with a quick detailer.

              As mentioned above already:
Ultimate Quik Detailer (between car washes) and Ultimate Quik Wax (after car washes) are your best companions for that just detailed look and maintenance of your vehicle.

So I just got the ok to buy a DA. I have no idea how to use one. I have watched the quick how to video. Are there any other videos like a step by step? I can use the DA to polish, wax, and removed wax with right?

The biggest advantage of using a dual action polisher is its ability of defect removal. Those machine can really safely and effectively deal with below surface problems like swirls, oxidation, water spots and scratches. Machines work faster than hand detailing and they never get tired.

Here are some good starting points:

I use a California Duster daily for the light dusting that happens almost nightly/daily. When it's bad enough that the duster doesn't remove it all, I use the UQD. If it's dirty from a rain or a few weeks of accumulated heavy dust, I wash then a fast coating of Quick Wax. All the above are fast and easy.

Thank you greg0303, your second link changed my mind about DA.
I'm going to search about different pads and DA machines to take one. specially with one truck and two sedans are waiting for waxing in our home!
Hope to find helpful links and threads . . .
