  • How do you remove water stains and swirls on GLASS?

    Hi, all!

I have couple light swirls and many water spots on my windows. Do you know is there any way that I can remove them?

I have a cheap glass cleaner which cleans well but is not able to remove water spots.

I have the Ultimate quick detailer, I never applied on the windows. not really sure the UQD can be applied on glasses. Plus UQD didn't remove water spots on the paint body so I thought they won't help on windows as well?

I am thinking if it's OK to apply some UC or scratch X 2.0 on the glass? does that sounds like a good idea?

    Also, any other suggestions?

Some ppl told me I don't need to worry about glasses b/c not matter how perfect I made them, I can not seal the perfection. there is no sort of "glass-wax" right?

    What's your ideas?

    Thanks a bunch!!!

I have actually seen tough spots on auto glass removed with Meguiars ultimate compound and a DA polisher combined with a yellow foam pad rather quickly!

Yeah, UQD is safe for glass. No it wont help the spots/swirls.

UC would be safe to use (with a soft applicator) on the water spots. Cant really do much for swirls, without getting really involved.

Some people will use a regular wax or RainX after cleaning the windows.

Have started working on my front windshield water spots.

A little chrome polish and steel wool and elbow grease have been doing the trick for me.

          They are slowing disappearing!!!

I used my Griot's Garage 3" mini DA with an orange polish pad & UC.
I used on my 2003 MPV, 2005 G35.....no more water spots on either vehicles

            Ultimate compound is GREAT!!!!!!

Yeah clay + Ultimate Compound will take out about anything that is capable of being removed without some serious work.

I am assuming that this would work better than my method I have been using. Although my method works....it works slow.
Is this a better method.. and would this be the same clay that you used on paint, correct?

I had horrible spots that came off with a few passes of UC using a Meg's DA and yellow pad on speed 4.

I don't think claying is a needed step, just keep the glass nice and clean, quick buff with a DA polisher/ UC.....makes very quick work of water spots with no elbow grease!
After I remove the water spots on the windows/ moonroof...anything glass....i apply a coat of Collinite 845 or 476, not likely to see waterspots ever again.

Personally I don't have a drill, what's the best manual way?

Szjalo, pls. try rubbing compound, polishing compund with DA. it lightens the water spots. try it every week and after a month see the difference!
