  • Need to sell this car. Need help.

I have a Honda Accord that I'm having trouble selling because of some body damage. I'm still paying for insurance on his vehicle, so I need to get rid of it as soon as I can. It has some hail damage on the hood and oxidation on the paint. I'm in the process of detailing it. I'm going to try ScratchX and ColorX for the first time, but I have some questions about the hail damage. First, does the Pops-A-Dent system work? I"m referring to the one they always advertise on TV. It looks like it is a simple product that uses hot glue and a simple mechanical tool to pull up on the dent. If you guys can answer some of these questions, I would greatly appreciate it. Just looking for your opinions.

    1. I was planning on ordering the product, but it looks so simple that I might try it without it (depending on your answers). How hard would it be to get hot glue off the finish. I'm assuming that is what the product uses.

    2. Since all the hail damage is on the hood, is there a trick to just going from underneath the hood and popping the dents out?

I don't know about the pops-a-dent system, but you may be able to find a relatively inexpensive paintless dent repairman in your area. They will sometimes charge by the panel which will be less expensive than individual dents. I'd spend the money and know you are getting it done right. You may end up with more of a mess with all that hot glue and the possiblity of removing paint.

      Hey,

Most of the Pop a dent type of tools are a waste of time. Some will pop a bigger dent assuming the glue holds on to the paint. But for hail damage, you will probably be better off going to a paintless dent repair shop.

      Please keep us posted.
