  • Road Rash on Black Car

Hello all. Im new so I know nothing. I have been reading thru the forums and learning alot. I fully understand the 5 step process and I hope I can execute the steps properly.

So, with that here are my questions. First I must say that I have a 2009 Civic si Black and to my untrained eye I think it is in execllent shape. I have used UW once and I have very little swirls and a very glassy look. Also, when I run my fingers across it is smooth except the hood and bumper. Road rash! I drive 60 miles a day in NJ/NY highways and I have rock chips all over the bumper/hood.

I was planning to use Dr.Colorchip and the proceed with the 5 step process. Unless you guys suggest otherwise.

Also, with step2 should I clay or use UC or both?

Please help me with the order. I need to take care of the road rash and then do some kind of best effort protection against the highways and the upcoming winter...

Thanks. The app on my android for this forum is outstanding....

I haven't used Dr. Colorchip for road rash but I have used it for larger rock chips. While the application wasn't as easy as they make it look in the demo video (I had to keep reapplying it because the touch up paint would come off on my gloved thumb) once the paint stayed in the chip hole it looked great. Even I can't tell where the repairs were made.

I tried Langka and it did not work for me at all, maybe I did not use it correctly.

I googled and read some reviews on this Dr. Colorchip. Again, it received mixed reviews. I don't think this product would completely fill the holes so it's probably no better than the regular touch up paint.

When you say roadrash, do you just mean the stone chips? Not scrapes from an accident?

          Murr1525,

yes, I mean those little chips. Comes from sand, dirt, tiny rocks from the highways...
