  • Ultimate Polish and Swirl X

I've been reading around and would like to know: does ultimate polish and swirl x have the same swirl removing ability or is swirl x better for swirls? I know Ultimate Compound is for moderate to heavy swirl marks and swirl x is for light swirls but where does ultimate polish fit into that?

Ultimate Compound, SwirlX, and ScratX all contain something called Diminishing Abrasives, which as you work the polish more and more the abrasives get smaller and smaller. Ultimate Polish is a pure polish meaning that it does not contain any abrasives. It makes the paint look wet and shinier in other ways than using abrasives. At the same time pure polishes don't offer any ability to correct the paint. What I mean by that is pure polishes don't get rid of swirls or scratches.

SwirlX and Ultimate Compounds fall into the cleaner polish category while Ultimate Polish falls into the finishing polish category. Yeah all of them have swirl and defect abilities and they vary with aggressiveness but Ultimate Polish has a lot of polishing oils that help make the paint richer, glossier and clearer.

SwirlX is definitely more aggressive in defect removal compared to Ultimate Polish.

You may want to check this thread out: Aggressiveness Order for New Consumer Products This will surprise you!. Ultimate Polish is less aggressive than M205.

UC, SwirlX and ScratchX 2.0 don't use diminishing abrasives anymore. They use SMAT. DAT products are M83, M80 and ScratchX.

Ultimate Polish is NOT a pure polish because does have abrasives in them. It is rich in polishing oils so it has the characteristics of a pure polish but it still has the ability to clean up minor defects and swirls. A pure polish is M7 Show Car Glaze.
