  • Clay Bar Question

Just getting into detailing and I have a question about using clay bar.

I am going to buy a DA Porter Cable 7424XP in a few weeks to wax, seal, etc. I am wondering if I clay bar now will it be a waste of time? In other words, should I just wait for the new tool to arrive.

I assume I will have to clay bar again if I do it now and then drive for a week or so before waxing/sealing.

    Any thoughts?

    Re: Clay Bar Question

If it were me I'd wait. You want the surface to be as perfect as possible before you wax. It wont be the most perfect if you clan now and wait a week. So either way you need to clay right before you wax. I'd save time and just do it once right before you wax.

      Re: Clay Bar Question

When you clay bar your car, you must wax your car afterwards. It sounds like you want to use tour PCXP to apply your wax so you can wait. If you're planning to polish your car when your PCXP arrives and want to get a head start then you can clay now and wait until your PCXP arrives to polish your paint.

I doubt you would notice a difference either way, unless you really drove through something, had something land on the car over the next week.

I would just wait and do it at all once. It doesn't take that long.

I agree with Matt. In such a short amount of time you shouldn't have any issues.
