I'll be using a rotary and the 105/205 combination. What should I tape off? After you remove the tape, do you go over all the painted surfaces that had tape on them and use the 105/205 by hand?
Use masking tape, some people use regular, some spend for 3M painters, I have seen both blue and green. Basically all the edges and trim work, as well as emblems. Should be no more then 1" and in general you really cannot see imprefection if its on the curve of the edge. Some have hit the edges with a quick pass of just 205 but I just remove the tape after finishing and looks great.
Depending on your level of confidence or skill the main point is for matching panels such as a fender too hood will be fine, When you go from panel to head light, turn signal, key hole, emblem. Thats when you want to tape it. Dont want to rip a pad or damage the finish.
Go to the results section and look at some befores and afters. You will get the gist.
