  • IPA Application after polishing

    Dear all...

this question is come to mind since many months a go...

as we know, some detailer choose to apply IPA after polishing, their reason is to make sure, that no other contaminants or polish residues still on the paint, so wax can bound perfectly on the paint.

OK. But how about Megs DC#2? it is a pure polish, without any cleaner, and it is make paint look deeper (especially dark color paint). If we use IPA, DC#2 will totally remove from the paint, which is no advantages at all of applying DC#2.

    Can you share your experience?

    Thanks

The wipe down process is carried out to ensure that defects have been removed as opposed to masked by any lubrication oils or fillers left behind after the polishing process. The wipe-down process may need to be repeated to ensure a perfectly

Yeah, you would do the IPA after the cleaning step. Then polish and wax.

Definitely. The use of IPA wipedown following the defect removal step will ensure that you've actually removed the defects, not just filled them in to some extent. Once you know all the defects are gone then an application of a pure polish like DC2, M07 etc can do wonders to enhance gloss. While some synthetic sealant manufacturers recommend applying their product only to perfectly clean paint and therefore would suggest the removal of such pure polishes via a subsequent IPA wipedown, if you stick with Meguiar's waxes/sealants you don't have that issue. But if you're using a product that recommends a totally clean surface, do the IPA wipedown following the correction process, skip the pure polish, and apply that company's product as your LSP.

          Thanks all...

I will continue my previous steps

          UC/swirl X, - IPA - DC#2 - NXT 2.0

IMHO, this is the best step after I try several alternatives

I should have known that. I'm finishing up my chemistry degree (with honors!) this semester.

Trust me it will be a long, long time (if ever) that you'll get to know all of the chemicals out there. Congratulations on obtaining your chem degree. Have you decided which branch of chemistry you want to persue?
