Does Meguiar's have a product that is comparable to WheelWax? Just got a "flyer" from Classic Motoring touting this product. Kind of pricey stuff if you ask me.

I think the problem with any product applied to the wheel to protect the finish is going to be resisting the heat build-up on the wheel. The real trick to keeping your wheels protected and beautiful is to find a product you like and use it often because whatever you put on there is going to diminish from the surface the more you drive your car. Many modern wheels are clear coated as such you can treat them like the paint on your car and simply wax them with a product like NXT Tech Wax. You can also use the new NXT All Metal Polysh as this product is clear coat safe and contains an anti-corrosive agent especially for slowing down the deterioration process.

Hey STG: good to see you made it over to the Meguiar's boards! That's my Team III on my DSG Mach.
I use the NXT Metal Polysh (that's their spelling) with a cotton buffing wheel attachment on my drill. Does a great job and the NXT Metal lasts longer than other products I've tried.
I recently purchased the Mother's PowerBall foam polishing attachment and am disappointed in the doggone size. About the only use I can find for this product is the inner rim polishing. It's too big and will scuff the gray wheel centers unless you tape them off prior to polishing.

Silver Surfer save your money. IMO that stuff is no better than using a cleaner wax on your wheels. I have used them and it does not polish alloys at all. It does have some strong solvent to remove brake dust and it has waxes to protect the wheel. If you read the instuctions that they recomend you to use it everytime to clean your wheels(instead of washing with soap/sprays). The product is constantly being applied so that is how it protects well, if you use NXT metal polish your wheels would be protected well too. Remember wheels gets hot from the brakes and no wax/ sealant can hold up to the heat. I say clean with your reguar soap/spray and wax the wheels monthly. If its polishe alloys then use the approprate polish instead of wax.Eddie

Hi Mike,
Recommendations for Meguiar's wheel cleaning product, please.
Meguiar's doesn't really offer any products for painted textured surfaces. Sure... we make products for painted surfaces and you can apply them to textured surfaces, but removing them is the problem because you cannot get into all the irregular surfaces. You specifically want to avoid anything that is going to dry white.
One option, and I don't know how well this will work, but some of our forum members have had good luck applying Gold Class Trim Detailer onto flat sheen painted finishes, in that it restores a richer look to the finish. Sometimes, something is better than nothing. You could try applying some of this product using a soft foam applicator pad to the finish, and then blotting and wiping any excess off with a soft, fluffy cotton towel with a plush nap like our new Ultra Plush Super Terry polishing towels.
Best of luck and tell us what you end up doing for this type of surface.
