  • Ultimate Compound help!!!! Videos inside to show the issues i have.

Hey guys I think I should just stick to painting cars and let the detail guys detail. Here is this weekend issue I wanted to detail my pop's car and i notice a few swirl marks some water stains etc. SO after reading on here I went with the Ultimate Compound and Ultimate wax combo. First after my last fail attempt I went with doing a test panel to see where i stand and here is what i notice. First video shows a what happens when i let no more then 30 sec after application. This stuff is a B@#$ to remove i get a haze and need to really apply pressure to remove. Now if i apply same way and remove wright away it comes out better but still a pain cause I need to be side viewing to see any bad spots reapply to moist the dry compound and wipe off.

here are the videos i took a of my applying and removing.

Part 2 same application just removed right away.

It appears that you are applying UC as WAX. You need to work it a lot harder by hand and do a small 2x2 area. Should wipe just fine. Was your surface washed and clayed?

It also appears that you are using a Black (WAX) pad. try using yellow (cutting pad) and if you notice in Video that CieraLS posted it takes a LOOOOONG Time to do it correctly by hand. After you finish using UC (Many hours) then you can do it all over with Ultimate Polish to give it that little extra zap, and then do it all over with your favorite wax.LOL

I just seen the vid good info but its seems this product needs to be sold a a D/A use only product. In the vid you can see him going back and fort using way to much to correct the dry spots. I would rather use my DIAMOND CUT COMPOUND #85 on my makita then use this product buy hand or machine. Even there DIAMOND CUT COMPOUND number 85 is not that hard to use compare to this over the counter product.

I need to get some more pads but the bottle does say u can use terry cloth towel. I think this products needs to be re think if its going to be sold as a over the counter walmart item.

UC works just great using D/A and follow up with AP. Personally I used both on my own car and graduated to Microfiber Correction system. Less time and great results.

Hi, sorry to say but both videos show ultimate compound being applied in a very wrong way. The only difference between the two is the time lapsed before removing the product. From what i see, you just simply applied it in circular motions then removed it. Both techniques will leave with poor finish.

WHat you need to do is to first work in smaller sections, maybe 2-3 square foot sections to be able to apply good enough pressure to correct the paint by hand.

When applying ultimate compound, swirlX, scratchx and maybe ultimate polish, you not just apply and remove it. You have to really work it in. Work it in in circular motions (i prefer it that way!) until you're left with a clear, somewhat oily or wet "coat" that's left after the ultimate compound has been broken down (seems to break down even without the diminishing abrasive thing). If done that way you can actually see and HEAR the ultimate compound working! Remember, don't just apply it as is then remove it. You have to apply it, work it in/massage it, overlap each pass 50% until you an oily wet factor is left in the paint.

It should be removed wet and CLEAR, work it in until a barely visible, wet film is left, then remove it (wet buff). There are also videos in youtube (from SEMA and some of meg's opern garage nights showing how to use certain paint prep/protection products). You will get great results with UC, guranteed.

You can get away with the vid 2 technique you showed with megs #7 showcar glaze or deep crystal polish, since its basically a Zero abrasive product and more of a pre wax pure polish which adds more shine and wow to paint (especially darker) paint.

Ok here is the update i did the other side today using my makita and a foam pad and its made a big difference it went on and went off really good. With that said i still think this product should not be used my hand and if so there should be better direction on the label. Explaining how to apply in a small 12x12 inch area apply in hard pressure and in circles and don't let dry.And what i have seen here with other not "pro level guys" they two have been having bad results till they learn the tricks.
