  • Re-waxing after light rain.

Ok I literally just finished a full detail on the beamer and we took it out for a drive today. It started drizzling a bit but when we came back I looked and there are no drop stains but a thin coat of dust that comes off easily. I have some of the quik detail and will use it on this blood stain from a large insecct. After I use it can I apply another coat of wax if the paints clean. Also on the rest of the car can I just wipe the dust off and apply the coat, even though it slightly rained.

Thanks I just didnt want a full days work to go to waste.

If there is dust, you would want to quick detail everything, then wax.

Or quick detail then spray wax.

After you use QD on the car to get rid of any dust, in my opinion you should be able to apply a coat of wax although cleaner wax would be preferred by me.

If you use a cleaner/wax, you'll be back down to one coat of wax.

There is no proof yet of building up, like layers thick.

But two coats is recomended to make sure there is even coverage, no spots missed, etc.

So a cleaner/wax would just go back to a chance of missing a spot is all. Although I guess if you actually missed a spot, then the original wax would still be there.

Does the QD do a lot more than just wiping the dust.

I would just apply UQW if the car was waxed days ago.

UQW will boost the wax and leave the car nice and shinny.
Not sure if a real wax can improve the look better than UQW.

UQD will leave a bit of a polymer coating behind, but otherwise just removing dust/light dirt.

If it was just a very light drizzle then you should be fine with just a QD wipe down of the entire vehicle prior to waxing. If you just waxed the car literally hours before the drizzle there's no real need to wax again, unless you had planned on laying down a second coat just to ensure uniform coverage and appearance. If that's the case, or you just want a second coat, then QD the entire car and go for it.

If you feel you don't really need that second coat, then maybe a wipe down with QD and a follow up with UQW for some added protection and gloss, or just use UQD for the wipe down with the added benefit of a little polymer added to the surface.
