  • What did i do wrong???

I decided to practice waxing my "bucket" so i can get a feel of waxing and to try 2 waxes i was given. First one is the HI-TECH YELLOW WAX and eagle one nano was both are paste type. I washed and parked under shade and applied half of the hood with number 26 and the other nano. Went inside my car and started to clean the trash inside and get ready for detail. I say a good 15 min passed when i went to give it a 2nd coat. I then went inside did my cleaning of dash and panels and another 15 to 20 min passed and i went to check on the hood.It looked dry to me i did notice some parts where a darker white but i assumed it was the places i was more heavy with the wax. So i started on the 26 side using a micro fiber cloth and i notice it was it was not coming off that easy it felt in some area like a smear and i need to apply lots off pressure to some areas. I flipped the towel over and notice it was caked up so i flipped it and kept going . I switched over to the nano and this one came off more easy but also had some bad spots. After scratching my head and reading the label which said use a terry cloth i decided to go home which was a 10 min drive. I got home and went into the garage got a new terry cloth and wiped of those bad spots now it did come off but it felt like a smear now i am guessing it had to do with the heat and driving that it soften up the wax. Its around 75 here in cali and it was around noon when i did this. Here are some pics. Thanks for the help guys.

My first guess off the top of my head is that it did this because it was applied to thick and not allowed to dry enough. So yes, it was because of the heat from the engine and the extra 10 minutes of driving that made it dry a little bit more.

Well, could be a few things.

      Looks applied very heavy.
You should apply a coat, remove, apply, remove. Not apply, then apply.
The surface doesnt look in great condition. Has it been clayed/cleaned at all before? Those waxes want the surface to be in good shape. If not, they will be harder to use.

ok i just wiped it off and i came off so much easier i got a grin on my face. I am going to wax the rest of the car next week. What is a good time frame to wait and how can u tell when its ready to wipe off. Also how would i use my buffer when using paste wax????
