      Re: Engine cleaning?

I had a short ram intake on my old car so the only thing I would cover is the air filter with a plastic grocery bag wrapped around it. Spray the engine with an engine cleaner and you can use a toothbrush or something to help clear any spots that have a lot of dirt built up. just read the directions on whatever product you use....you usually let it sit for 15 minutes or so then spray it off....then run the engine for a bit to dry it out.
Then you can use a product to bring the black out of the hoses and things and make them shine.
and make sure the engine is cool before starting. hope that helps....

Here is a review of the new Meguiars Engine Cleaner.

I use a pesticide sprayer instead of a hose. I like a pesticide sprayer as it is more accurate and less pressure.

Meguiar's Super Degreaser: spray (mist) on everything except the alternator and air intake ducts. Follow up with a brush on tough areas. Use a firm jet of spray on hard to reach areas after some dwell time. Once you're done degreasing, use one of the water hose nozzles that has a mist setting to rinse thoroughly. Follow that with a blower of some kind to dry. I use my 6hp vacuum hooked to the exhaust side.

Meguiar's Hyper Dressing: Mist on all rubber and plastic parts, follow up with a rag and detailing brush to get an even coat and get rid of any puddles of product.
