  • NXT..we will see.

I just did the hood of my black car, half M16 and half NXT. I always wanted to try NXT. I had to work a little hard to buff 16, and NXT was a breeze. Then, asking my boyfriend to tell me which looked better, he picked NXT. I disagree. but the argument is academic, because
Meguiars does not make 16 anymore and he has no class. (Lots of other attributes though) I will bet 16 will last longer. NXT is just a cheap consumer product, just like all the cheap products out there. No criticism of
Meguires alternative ...since the government made voc illegal ., so they came up with
nxt.... and the government is at it's usual incompetence. So goes the current incompetence, what will the they come up up next.
If you are not prepared to work at something, then what you are working at is a waste of time.
BUY #16. If you can find it.

I think you may just be surprised. Keep an open mind and let us know in a couple of weeks.

I waxed my wife's Accord and my Ranger with M16 almost a year ago and they both still bead.

M16 is amazing stuff and I still believe superior to NXT in longevity (just my opinion) however NXT is more user friendly especially to those of use with paint protection film as M16 can leave a white residue along the edges that is a pain to remove. That being said I use Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant 3.0 and have yet to use anything that can surpass it's longevity or looks. Somehow it really does what it says and brings out the flake in metallic paints dramatically.

I just ran my buffer with some swirl free polish to remove swirl marks from compounding my new paint job and put a coat of NXT on by hand...a little difficult to remove imo!

difficult?! it shouldn't be difficult, i can actually appply it very thin working it in and taking my time with it. However, if its streaking you're experiencing, it does happen especially of applied to thick. Removal in my experience is more difficult with the paste though but no streaking issues with it.

I have both M16 and NXT in stock and use both regularly. As others have said, in time you may be surprised. NXT, IMO, has a hard shine that I don't find as appealing as M16's softer glow, but the NXT shine does last quite well and it's definitely easier to use on finicky paints. Hot or cold, damp or dry, NXT goes on quick and easy, without streaking. Nothing against M16, but I'll be surprised if you don't warm up to NXT a bit.

Been using Meguiar's products almost exclusively since 1970. Used all of them including #16 and still have a pretty "fresh" can of the stuff. As as often as most of us wax our vehicles it doesn't make a heck of a lot of difference what we use. In my "old age" I am becoming quite fond of Ultimate Spray Wax. Just my two cents.

It's really going to all come down to her personal likes. I look for some longevity in waxes/sealants for my personal vehicle but since I do it so often, looks are the most important. As far as a carnauba wax goes M16 offers a nice balance.
