  • Ultimate Protectant application + "prep"???

    Hey all,

Had a question about Ultimate Protectant and its application to my cars interior (dash plastics etc).

Now first off, this stuff is fantastic! Used it on another (new) car at home…which was previously untreated, and the result is better than I’d hoped for!

However, I’m interested in using UP on my car, which has had it’s interior plastics sprayed/wiped with another brand of “protectant” (can I call the name?) …..leaves a very very shiny finish.

How do I go about removing that old protectant off of the plastics, before applying UP? Am I going to be losing some of the UP’s effectiveness if I don’t remove the old stuff properly? Or does UP have cleaning ability that will help remove the old protectant, while the UP is being applied?

I tried a basic MF cloth with some water….seemed to take the existing shine on the dash down a notch, but I figure that the old protectant hasn’t been removed completely.

Wont be a bad idea to remove old dressing first.

The water alone probably removed a lot, and doing it again with a few drops of dishwash soap would handle it well.

Or of course you could use car products like APC, APC+, or Leather & Vinyl Cleaner.

Yeah, APC/APC+ is just handy for everything in general if it is available there.
