  • How do I remove the oxidation?

The paint on the hood of 300zx is oxidized. How do I bring back the paint?

    All suggestions would be appreciated.

    Brandon.

You need a paint cleaner to do so as oxidation is one of below surface defects.

If light oxidation - cleaner wax can attack it (like ColorX, M06 Cleaner/ Wax, M66 Quik Detailer), medium - cleaner polish (like SwirlX or Ultimate Polish), heavy - paint cleaner/ compound (like Ultimate Compound).

After you wash your car (and clay if needed) perform a test spot starting with least aggressive product first.

Any chance of pictures of your car's hood? Sometimes clear coat failure may look like oxidation (I really hope it's not your case).

I applied Meguair's paint cleaner, and it the improve the passenger side of the hood. However driver side of the hood didn't cooperate. I would post pics if I knew how to.

Once you have your pictures stored on your computer you may need to resize them if they're larger than 1MB.

After you log on to your MOL account go to Gallery and choose Upload Pictures option. This will take you to the next screen which will have Browse button to locate where your pictures are. Choose the pictures which you want to post and click Upload button. After upload is complete click Proceed and this will place your pics in your Gallery.

When you compose your message the second row has square image saying Image - click on it to insert a pic into your message. It's gonna ask you for URL of your pic which you have to copy from your Gallery using right click option Copy Image Location.

It looks like a beginning of a clear coat failure to me.

The only way to fix it would be to respray the hood with fresh paint.

As a temporary solution you could gently polish the affected area with DC2 Deep Crystal Polish or M07 Show Car Glaze to improve the look. The bad news is once the clear coat failure starts there's no way to stop it.

I will try it. Much appreciated! Yeah, other than my car's hood, the rest of the paint pretty flawless for a 1985 car.

Is it a single stage paint? No clear coat? Was the car repainted or is it an original 1985 paint?
