Hello everyone. While I rarely post, I am used to reading these forums and soaking up any knowledge I where I can. Several years ago I asked about the five step process and trusted in the opinions here and had wonderful results. Once again I have some questions I'd like to ask and see what opinions I get.
I detailed my 2008 Toyota Camry last March. I used the consumer claybar kit with quick detailer, deep crystal paint cleaner, mirror glaze polish, and two coats of gold class wax. I usually do this once or twice a year, and have been doing so since I first purchased the vehicle. My choice of waxes (always have been paste and applied by hand) generally include Meguiars Cleaners Wax, NXT 2.0, or Gold Class. Time after time these products leave my vehicle looking beautiful; however, I was slightly disappointed with the end results last March. I don't blame the products, rather, I blame myself. I felt the results were lacking after I initially clayed the vehicle, yet continued with the rest of the process. There were some things this time that just didn't come off. It's been several months now, and I would like to give it another try. I'm thinking that the results of my last detailing may not have been as stellar as previous ones due to the fact that I moved into a Northern Virginia area last August. This is a heavy traffic area, comprised of several interstates and daily Air Quality Alerts. This is a change compared to where I used to reside, a mountainous rural area in the center of Virginia. The vehicle is a daily commuter car, and now garaged daily with the purchase of our new residence. I honestly think the environmental conditions have somewhat impacted the vehicle's buildup of dirt and other fine debris.
I was considering a new detail regimen consisting of Gold Class Car Wash, Mirror Glaze Professional Detailing Clay Mild lubricated with Final Inspection, Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, Ultimate Polish, and either Ultimate Wax or High Tech Yellow Wax. I was hoping that I would get some opinions on the matter, as I consider myself still new to detailing my own vehicle, and learning things on this forum everyday.
Can i apply Mirror Glaze Professional in much the same manner that I applied the consumer level clay kit?
I've been using Quick Detailer for lubricant for my clay, but I noticed that the mirror glaze mild clay kit recommends Final Inspection. What is the difference between Final Inspection and Quick Detailer? Can i use Final Inspection the same way that I used Quick Detailer? Can I harm the vehicle with it?
I've only used pure polishes such as Deep Crystal Polish and Mirror Glaze Polish. Can I harm the vehicle by using ultimate polish? Would anyone recommend a different polish? I would be doing this by hand. Should i stick with a pure polish? Can I hurt the vehicle with Ultimate Polish due to my inexperience with the product itself?
Is High Tech Yellow Wax comparable to Gold Class? Gold Class is my favorite. I also found wonderful results recently in detailing my work vehicle with Ultimate Paste Wax.
