Are you guy's doing a final wax after the 300 and 301? Is it necessary? I am used to using NXT 2.0 after UC & UP. (3 steps) Is that still needed after the DA MF system or just the 2 steps?
It depends on what you want to do. I detail on the side and on 1 of the packages that I offer they get a layer of M21 on top of the D300 and D301. D301 is a carnuba based wax. I actually did one for free and all I did was the D300 and D301. It looked great! The wax has lasted for several weeks. I did it as test only. So it is really up to you.
D301 Finishing Wax is a hybrid wax - blend of natural and synthetic ingredients. Expect similar durability to M26 High Tech Yellow Wax, which is also a hybrid, but shorter protection than M21 2.0, NxT Tech Wax 2.0 or Ultimate Wax.
If a long lasting protection is a goal in your case then you could top D301 with a finishing wax of your choice.

Greg, I would like to explore your answer just a bit for my edification.
M301 can* be topped with any NON-Cleaner wax. Does it have a cure time before topping or is a 10-20 minute dry time sufficient?
*can - I know anything can be done. I'm thinking can as in recommended.

The whole DA Microfiber Correction System was developed as an easy to use, highly effective two step process for use in high volume reconditioning facilities. This type of facility (auctions, rental agencies, etc) tend to work on a high number of vehicles every day - often in the hundreds of cars per day - and their personnel turnover can be quite high. So training becomes an issue for them and they don't have time to teach each new employee to be proficient with a rotary buffer. That tool has a very long and steep learning curve, and the potential for paint damage is very real. These facilities need a system that is super fast to learn, and incredibly safe to use, even in the hands of a complete novice. That's what this "system" was designed for.
That said, the full system can work wonders for a professional or enthusiast detailer too, but quite often their needs and wants - as well as the desires of their customers - is very different from that of the target audience mentioned above. This is where we often see people deviate from the "system" and start to interject some other products or processes. If you don't own, and down want to own, a rotary buffer but you've struggled to get out some of the more severe defects you've encountered, then the DA Correction Compound on a cutting disc can be a terrific solution for you. You can then follow with M205 on a foam finishing pad and top with the wax/sealant of your choice. If you've got a customer looking for just a quick two step process then many times you can maximize the outcome of that request by sticking to the complete system, and nothing more. If you're a pro detailer and have a couple of young guys working with you, but they aren't rotary proficient so you've used them to follow up your rotary work with a DA, now you can cut them loose with the DA Microfiber System and let them handle the whole thing - from cut to finish - without your supervision.
There are all kinds of ways you can potentially mix and match the components of the system with other things. We've seen people use M105 on the DA Microfiber Cutting Disc with great success, and others (including yours truly) have used D300 on a W8207 foam polishing pad with great success.
So, when Sean responded with "It depends on what you want to do.", he was spot on.

Remember, this hobby is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need therapy.
So now that some time has gone by, has anyone tried some different products on top of the D301? What's worked well? What hasn't?
I was going to try Collinite 845, but would sure love to hear some opinions.
Thanks,
Rob
I've tried both M21 and M26 on top. They both work great and the results speak for themselves.
Good to know! I was under the impression that a sealant topper wouldn't be a good idea because of the carnuaba in the D301, but if you've had no issues with the M21, then I guess it's no big deal? And if that's the case, do you think Menz Powerlock would be alight?
Thanks,
Rob

I have had no problems with topping it with M21. Works great. I don't see why Powerlock would have a problem. I guess it might, since I don't know what all is in it. I do know that sometimes people say they have problems when they mix companies, but I wouldn't think it would be a problem. Maybe someone else has tried another brand of sealant and can speak more on this.
