  • Should be an easy question about Scratch X 2.0

I've been using this a good bit recently, the stuff really is quite amazing on very fine scratches.

A couple of days ago on black paint I fixed up a scratch. I have read in another thread that this stuff is so fine that one shouldn't need worry about direction of movement because, and this makes sense, no product like this should be introducing scratches so why does it matter?

In any case, after repairing/removing a scratch, rubbing all in just one direction, I noticed some absolutely super, super fine little scratches that the 2.0 introduced. These are only noticeable in very specific lighting on perfectly clean paint and if you know where to look and have incredible vision (they are really fine). So my question:

Were these super fine scratches introduced because I 1) did not rub the scratch x away 100% (I know it's a diminishing abrasive, so is supposed to be rubbed down all the way) or is it because 2) I used Walmart-level applicator pads? Or did I 3) perhaps rub it down TOO far (was starting to feel "dry" near the end when I fixed this scratch)?

It seems like obsessed people only use microfiber on their car, so next up I'm going to get some microfiber detailing cloths and only apply this with them...i can't really find foam pads around.

    Thanks!

I had very good luck with the high-tech foam applicators. I don't like applying scratchx or ultimate compound with cloths, try an applicator next time.
