Should I Polish and Wax every wash?

I Have a black 07 M35 and the challenges of keeping it clean can become overwhelming but I accept the challenge. My question is after each wash (once a week) should I always polish and wax or is it something to do a few times a year? Thanks.

You only need to polish and wax a few times a year once every 4 to 6 months is good

I'll copy my answer over here, to help keep things together...

Might be best for your own thread if you really want to get into your car specifically, but in general:

- You would wash and do a detail of some sort: claying, cleaning, cleaner/wax, wax, etc that was wanted.

- You would wash every week or two (touching the car more often isnt always good)

- You would follow up the wash (or while drying) with a spray of Ultimate Quick Wax.

- When the UQW seems to be dragging, hard to apply, or your water is just not running or the car well at all, you would consider when to re-detail.

Another option, (and I alternate as needed), is to use Ultimate Wash and Wax for the 'weekly' washes, when I dont have time to worry about UQW after. So I keep a regular wash like Gold Class for when detailing or spray waxing after, and UW&W for when in a hurry.

Thanks for the info. So last week I clayed the car and waxed it. This weekend should I just wash, polish since I didnt yet and just spray wax?

No need for spray wax yet only need that when you use a quick detailer and it's a little harder to take off all you need to do is keep washing once a week

Spray wax is meant to be a 'booster' to a proper coat of liquid or paste wax.

So, if you just put a new coat of wax on there, you may as well enjoy it a little before doing a lot of work again.

Then in a couple weeks, you can look at more of a detail again. Clay may not be needed every time, so you might just use a cleaner/wax (ColorX, Cleaner/Wax, etc) then wax, or you might use a cleaner/polish (Ult. Polish, SwirlX) for a mild cleaning, then two coats of wax.

Be sure to look into things like Grit Guards, two bucket method, good towels/sponges/etc for good safe washing.

This will especially be the case if you use one of Meguiar's long lasting sealants such as Ultimate Wax. Just use a booster like Ultimate Quik Wax every couple weeks to extend the protection and beading.
