I just did a little polishing on my exhaust tip with the steel wool and glass cleaner method. It worked rather well to my surprise for as much rust that was on there. I don't have any pics but the finish still has some rust spots on it. Whats the best way to get rid of these. Can I use a Dremel and a wire wheel? Also was wondering if I will get a better finish if I went to a metal polish with the steel wool. Just some questions I had. If anyone had some answers, I would really appreciate them. Thanks a lot.

Re: Best way to polish exhaust tips?
If you're using #0000 steel wool then by all means use it with some metal polish - the combination works great on lightly pitted and rusted chrome.Michael Stoops

Re: Best way to polish exhaust tips?
I figured that stepping up to metal polish was a good idea, thanks for reaffirming that. My other question was, what is your preferred method of polishing with steel wool and metal polish? Back and forth, side to side, small circles. Murr1525, what gave you such good results in your photo? I have an aftermarket muffler on my car that I have neglected over the past 2 years and it has some minor pitting. Now I am trying to bring it back to life. All help is appreciated, especially from all the detailing pros on here. I am just a new guy starting out with detailing and love doing it. I just need more info and tips and trick from the pros. Thanks a lot guys.

Re: Best way to polish exhaust tips?
Granted, I kept after mine from the start, but its just metal polish (looks like I used NXt in that photo, it is from a couple years back. Would be Hot Rims M&A now.) and the #0000 steel wool. Maybe a last pass with terry cloth on the tips.
I am sure the lighting was friendly, but still.. I just laid under there and went at it. Whatever direction worked best for the area. I like to appy the metal polish, over the whole thing, so it starts to dry a little when time to remove. Seems to remove easier then.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue
