  • A Strange Situation

So... I've been detailing cars for over 30 years and I've run into a situation with my Metalic Silver BMW 750 Li that's a bit odd - I certainly haven't come across this before...

    The story goes:

Normally, I wash my car once per week and wax every other week. In the north east, we had a stretch of poor weather where neither was done. (I should have enough protectant to last a month) When the weather cleared, I had a new fence installed around the perimeter of my house. The installers threw in the 'treatment' as an incentive for me to hire them. They sprayed polyurethane protectant on the fence, which needless to say, the overspray landed on my car! (the garage was blocked with work vehicles so I couldn't park inside)

When I ran my hand over the surface of the car, I could feel the overspray... This past weekend, I went to work on the surface of the car. I used "Ultimate Compound", "Deep Crystal Polish" and " Deep Crystal Carnuba Wax".
Still, I can feel the surface of the paint is not perfectly smooth.

I am currently researching whether or not to use a more aggressive compound such as "Ultra Cut Compound" or "Medium Cut Compound" to eliminate the settled overspray.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Clay is the way to go for overspray. Our Smooth Surface Clay Kit is exactly what you need. Below is a link to our Quik Tips video on the topic in case you are not familiar with what clay is and what it does. Even if you do not have overspray claying is a vital step in the detailing process.
