  • New Car; Cloudy Dull Finish? + Newly Painted Parts

    Hey Guys!
I'm new to this forum and have been working on learning how to detail my car. I have two problems i need help with.

The first would be my newly painted fender and driver door. As advised i asked the body shop about when i can wax my car. They said that i can wax it "right away". In fact they "already polished and waxed my car because they baked the paint". So does this mean it's okay? I put on a layer of Nxt on it already. If i do need to remove my wax, how can i?

My second concern is this dull finish i see on the roof of my car and also other parts as well. What kind of paint problem am i dealing with?
Here's a picture (will upload better ones later.)

    Thanks guys =)

When you say cloudy do you mean you can't clearly see trees or your face in the reflection of the paint?

If this is the case its orange peel. After spraying clear coat, it leaves an uneven surface. You need to wet sand 2000 grit, maybe even 1500 and work up to 3000, then compound and polish and then wax.

Its kind of dangerous to wet sand. Its very easy to burn through to primer and that means a whole new respray. But its a great skill to work on, get an old body panel front he scrap yard and pratic.

My advice take it back to the shop and show them the problem and tell them you want it wet sanded. You aren't happy and they probably rushed the job to keep cost down.

How much did this partial respray cost?

Hey. I had my body panels repainted because of rust...(new car under a YEAR!!?)
        So it was covered underwarranty.
The cloudy/dullness (i can't see clear reflections, they're blurred) was there before they repainted my car.
Is UC with a D/A not enough?
