Re: Who makes the best car care products?
Meguiar's of course! Also what kind of water spots are they? Surface or etched water spots from years of being parked next to the sprinklers? You can always start by using a clay bar if its light water spots. If that doesnt remove them you can try a paint cleaner like SwirlX then move up the scale on agressiveness. Remember you always want to start witht he least agressive method first! Good luck and hope everything works out.- Markito -

Why would you come onto Meguiar's forum and ask that?
ColinA common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Asking which is best, would be akin to me asking you, "which is the best ice cream flavor"? To you, it might be chocolate, to me it might be vanilla and to others something else.
I think one point you can't argue with, is that Meguiars offers the "most complete" product line of any car care company. From strong compounds, to light polishes, from APC's to solvents and dressings, nobody has a more complete line up.
In some areas, I think it is clear the Meguiars is a leader (like polishing compounds). Whether it is D300 and the MF system or M105/M205.
However, in other areas (like lets say rinseless washes), a company like Optimum is probably better. Having said that, I don't really use rinseless washes, as I personally find them inferior to a regular two bucket wash.
So, there is no real answer to your question and it comes down to personal preference.
My favorite LSP is Blackfire Wet Diamond, my favorite polishes are D300, M105, M205, my favorite engine dressing is Megs HD, my preferred winter "wax" is Z2Pro, etc...
Some would probably think some of my choices are nuts, others might agree, but how do you measure "best"?----------------------------------

Consumer level cleaners and glazes from meguiars are very good, in my experience. #7 glaze vs. mothers sealer/glaze, i'd say megs gives better depth and wetness, but the mothers glaze is a lot easier to use and it runs #7 really close in terms of shine.
Megs make great products, and although some may think its not the best, the results you will get will be dependent on how you prep your car and experience in the entire car care/paint care process. Nothing wrong with playing around with different brands of car waxes, etc., but the problem is there are so much products out there that can deliver great results, just the thought of trying ALL of them out can drive anyone (like me) crazy. Try megs first, and join the forums, see all the pics of the members' cars and there detail work, ask questions, you will get good advice. Also, if you have some doubts on the shine megs can give, check out all the meguiars treated cars here and ask yourself if the meguiars shine is not good enough for you. I;m quite sure you'll like it, and i'm quite sure you'd like to try it.
If you haven't tried megs, i suggest trying out the lower priced waxes first: Meguiars Cleaner wax and/or Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax
Entry level in price, but on a well prepped surface, it can easily match NXT2 in depth/shine quite easily

Re: Who makes the best car care products?
^^^ That was kind of my point.
There is no "measure" for best, because it is all subjective. What matters to me, may not matter to you or the next person.
So when the poster aboved declared something as "best" on wanted to know on what basis.----------------------------------

Re: Who makes the best car care products?
Well, sorry if i repeated your point, I just wanted to share my own experience with certain megs and non-megs products. But the thing with the waxes is that the overall look of the paint changes a bit with certain brands/types of wax without making one superior to the other. If it looked like i was trying to answer your question and making you look silly, or worse, trying to argue with your point, Sorry for that, it was never meant to look that way. I support your point/s 100%.
