Project # 1 - 1991 LR Discorery

Hey All!

I've been reading a lot on MOL and I can say this is a marvelous and friendly place to learn. I can say that I love this place already...

Well, my first project is a total paint recovery on my 1991 Land Rover Discovery. It's a single-stage finish red and last time I did some thing was about 3 years ago. Bad shape. The paint is absolutely oxidized and has a lot of contaminants.

I plan to use the 5 step method. I'll be using a Porter Cable DA.

Washing - I'll be using the A2516 - Soft Wash Shampoo Gel, the only one I found here

Cleaning - C2110 - Aggressive Clay and Quick Detailer - also the only found

Polishing - I found Speed Glaze (M80) and M82 Swirl Free Polish. Is it OK?

Protect - G12711 NXT Tech Wax 2.0

Any suggestions or recommendations ?

Pics would be nice, but the plan sounds pretty good. Hard to say if the M82 will really be needed.

This is my beloved LR Disco. I have it since 1991 and it takes me any where and brings me back home, yet... Now she is a senior and I have to treat her very good...

What do you think? M82 too?

M82 wont hurt.. just more polishing oils.

Just remember the aggressive clay can leave some marring, so use plenty of lube, and dont work it into the paint with a lot of pressure unless needed. Try to be gentle, to keep from adding more swirls.
