  • Too many LC CCS pads! Which one do I use?

Quick backstory, guys. Stick with me.
    • Detailed S2000 a few weeks ago
    • Used M205 on 7" 8207 Polishing pad
    • Didn't like results
    • Need something more aggressive
SO, I bought a smaller backing plate and 5.5" LC CCS pads and I'm going to use UC followed by some UP that I just bought and would like to try.

I have the following LC pads:
    • 2 Orange
    • 1 White
    • 1 Green
    • 1 Blue
    • 1 Red
Problem is, I have NO IDEA which one to use for each step. I was thinking about going with an Orange pad for the UC step to knock out the swirls and going over it again with UP on either Green or Blue. Need help on that one.

Am I looking for an absolute flawless finish? No, but I want most of these swirls GONE. And, of course, it's a black car

    Thanks for the help, guys.

    I've found this chart helpful

I'm using #105/UC with an orange pad
      #205/UP with a white pad
      BFWD Sealant with red pad
Danase Wet Glaze with blue pad.

Works for me, but your paint and techniques are variables. I would also have a yellow pad in your arsenal for stubborn swirls.
I used to use green polishing pad with #205/UP, but switched to white.

I agree with jim but I like using the black LC pad for pure polish, the blue pad seems to absorb too much product instead of spreading it. Blue I use for waxing.

        105 Orange Pad

        205 White Pad

        #7 / Glaze Black Pad

        Wax/LSP BluePad

I used yellow but you can use orange for UC and green for UP. Results were good but not as good as using microfiber 2 step correction system. That gave me results on black car that I was looking for.

I use the LC flat pads.

Orange 5.5" with UC for swirls or heavy oxidation.

White 5.5" for M205 or Ultimate Polish for very light corrections.

Black 6.5" for use with pure polishes or M205/UP for enhancing gloss.

Gold 6.5" (I love this pad) This is LC's softest pad and works extremely well for applying waxes or sealants especially.

Thank you for all the replies, guys. Seems like the orange is the popular choice for UC. Unfortunately I don't have a black pad for the UP. Probably going to use the green pad and then top everything off on a Megs 9207 since it has a larger surface area for spreading wax. If not, I'll use either the red or blue pad for the wax.

I'll try to document this one as best as I can and report back with results. Waiting for this weather to clear up in NJ. Just miserable out there.
