  • Newbie Vinyl interior care question

Hi. New here. Just got a new Ford Escape with non leather interior. No pets, kids or even wife just me to get it dirty. It's not garage kept. It shouldn't get that dirty mostly dusty. I've been trying to figure out what Meguiars products to use to keep the interior nice. I bought NATURAL SHINE VINYL & RUBBER PROTECTANT Item Number: G4116 today. Now I think maybe I should have also gotten QUIK INTERIOR DETAILER Item Number: G13616.

If I understand the products (and I'm not sure I do) I should use the Natural Shine Protectant occasionally and use the QId routinely. Am I on the right track? If yes how often should I use the Natural Shine Protectant.

    Thanks in advance

Re: Newbie Vinyl interior care question

    Welcome to MOL, Chuck!
Good question on two somewhat similar products. Natural Shine is a protectant with some limited cleaning ability. Since it has cleaners, you can use it as often as you like without concerns about buildup. QID is just what the name implies; An interior version of a Quick Detailer, biased more toward cleaning ability than protection qualities. It's great for hard surfaces such as interior plastics, lenses, screens etc., as it wipes dry without a residue. Both leave a low-gloss finish, as opposed to the glossy, greasy look of many protectants. There's room for both in your arsenal. It just depends on the task at hand. For example, you can use QID first as a cleaner, then follow with NS to enhance the protection. Either one will serve as a maintenance product, just depending on the degree of cleaning you need and the surface.

I use the protectant more in the summer of course.

But yeah, thats how I do it. Protectant every month or two when I feel like it, and QID every week or two, when I feel like it.

After a few times, I'll use some APC to give a stronger cleaning, then back into the above routine.

          APC yes.

QID if sprayed lightly, or on a cloth and wiped, will act more like a duster, and may just knock the shine down a little.

If you spray the QID heavy, you'll get more cleaning.
