Few things I see and also question.

        1) What was your whole process. How was the surface prepped, how was wax applied, how long did it have to dry/cure and then how was it removed.

        2) are you sure that was not a pre exsisting water spots?

        3) NXT 2.0 has nice beading but Meguiar's new Ultimate Wax does well stand alone or a follow up with Ultimate Quick Wax and you will get killer results.

I did the ultimate wash and wax car shampoo, then since there were some of the same water spots that couldn't be taken off with the car wash, I used DC1 PAINT CLEANER to clean (it was in a previous post)

Then I went with the Tech 2.0 Wax, which I left on for 35 minutes (I used the swipe test, and yes it didn't exactly swipe clean, but i thought half hour should do it, and it was gonna rain soon...it was aroudn 72 degrees and cloudy)

then i wiped off with a MF towel...

Personally, I would re wash, not in sunlight. Dry completely and then clay bar the car. If the spots are still there, then step up to some swirl x, it works killer for hard rain spots.

After your satisfied I would re approach your technique as if you had done a VERY thin layer of NXT, it should have hazed and dried with in 15 minutes. I am heavy handed and experience this a lot. Do 2 coats and then follow up with ultimate quick wax.

The thing is you need to get the surface completely clear of imperfections.

So drying with MF towels or water magnets. Heck I use a water blade and then follow up with WM and works killer everytime.

but the thing is...will i still get these spots even after doing all that? I pretty much have done that...i make sure it's clear of imperfections before waxing....

or do i just have to find a parking spot away from trees??

which would mean parking outside, since my driveway is under a tree

                Re: After the Rain

People are under the misconception that after you wax and it rains your car will stay spot free. This is far from the case.

1.)You need to first examine the area you live in and account for the variation in climate (New York)

2.)You then need to account for all the pollution in the air you cant see that can lead to acid rain which NY is know for.

3.) Where did you park? People forget to account for run off from building, trees, light poles etc. You touch on parking under a tree. Trees are dirty!

                  wow, nice diagram, thank you

yeah i guess the tree has a lot to do with it...sigh...i will try parking on the street tonight to see if it makes a difference...

but then i will now have bumper scratches to worry about

                    Re: After the Rain

Based on what you listed, you did not clay and use a more appropriate cleaner. My Trans Am was parked in a garage that had a leaky roof and was leaking roofing tar water on my beautiful car.

Washing and claying did not remove it and stepped it up to SwirlX and a terry cloth. I essentially introduced more "cut" to the paint.

It maybe very likely you have contamination as well after all that work but that surface may need more preop before the protective layers are re introduced.

I am sure more will chime in but that is what I would do.

brendan 1234, you hit the nail on the head......

So long as you continue to park your vehicle under the trees, washed waxed, detailed or not...these trees will continue to shower your vehicle with a mixure of the rain water and the acidic juices of the trees. In order to prevent this from happening over and over, you will need to find your "Detailed Car" a nicer place to park....

Here is an example of some of the stuff our trees out here in California weep, this was all over my wifes car the day after detailing it.

This stuff was like sticky resin or glue balls, and I had to literally clay and wax the entire vehicle again after thia sat on the car for only 1 day.....what a PITA

Sometimes its like you just can't win, I do this all week long, last thing I want to do is have to detail the wifes car every other day.....from now on we steer clear from these trees and park else where..

Ahh, my eyes! I know the feeling with the trees. The closest/most convenient parking spot to our apartment is also the only one with a tree overhanging...guess which one I DONT park in.

I once made the mistake of parking in it (it was the only free spot...imagine that), and the next day it was covered in sap, and about 6 bird bombs. Bah!

me personally, I would cut the tree down before ever parking over night on a NY Street.

Is cutting the tree down or back an option?
