Can this be removed?

hey guys,

any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I have had my car for about 3 years and when I got it; it was in pretty bad shape as far as the previous owner taking care of it, etc. I had some spots on my hood that I was eventually able to lighten enough so I wasn't so upset with them, etc. Unfortunately there is ONE spot on my ride that I've been wondering how this would or even if it could be removed.

I'm attaching some pics for you guys to check out but I do have these questions for you:

1. Can this spot be removed?
2. If it can be removed, would this require 'wet-sanding' it (definitely something that worries me since I'm not familiar with this at all)
3. I just purchased a G110v2 and if this can be removed using this, what would be the necessary steps.
4. If it can't be removed, what am I looking at, needing to have it repainted or what?

Clear coat failure. Sorry dude only a repaint can fix that. There was a thread where someone got theirs to look lighter, but not much else you can do.

Is it on the roof? The spot is small so I wouldn't worry about it much. Those things can drive you crazy lol!

Yeah; it's on the roof of the car and yeah...it's driving me crazy. If I was looking at trying to lighten it; any suggestions?

I know I'm looking at having my rear bumper repainted; I guess I can see what it would cost to have the roof done as well since I'm looking at keeping my car for as long as possible. It sux though; had I known about these things BEFORE I purchased the ride, I think I would have passed on the ride. Oh well, live and learn.

So you believe that wet sanding will remove the issue without having to go and have it repainted? The idea of wet sanding scares me to say the least. If done incorrectly, will it remove or destroy the paint? I tried looking for a tutorial but wasn't able to find it; I'm sure there is one on this site and if so, what is the URL?

Can you give me any advice on what is the best route and what are the best products to do the wet sanding.

That almost looks like it was caused by bird droppings. Looking at it closely do you see any cracking?

Oh yeah; there are etchings and it's really rough where the spot is. I'm not going to lie; there is also some 'touch up paint' in the mix (no one has to say how stupid that was - but that was awhile back ago).

SO...any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Like I said earlier; I'm going to have to get my rear bumper repainted (not sure when) so I can probably look to have that painted as well but if a DA and some elbow grease get it out...I'm definitely game to give it a try.

Go at the spots with some Ultimate Compound, either by hand or with your polisher, and see what it does for you. My guess is that it may take a few applications but should improve it greatly.

I've tried using the UC by hand and that has been the best it's gotten. I just got a DA Porter Cable so I'm hoping using that will help with lightening the spot etc. Do you think the DA will fair that much better than what I've tried to do by hand?
