  • Polish or No?

Hi, Just did a on-line profile and Meguiar's recommends that I wash, my 2007 Honda Accord, Clay bar, it and then use NXT Generation Tech 2.0 wax. No mention of a Polish! All the video's and threads seem to recommend a polish before waxing. My paint is in good condition(light silver), just some surface bugs and bird droppings, etc. So, what to do?? Thanks!

A pure polish likely wont show up much. But something with some cleaning ability would likely be good in between claying and waxing.

The Ultimate Polish of SwirlX would fit well. I will also sometimes use a cleaner/wax product like ColorX to speed things up and still cover the recomended steps.

    1. Wash
    2. Clay as needed
    3. Ult. Polish or SwirlX
    4. Wax
    5. Wax

    1. Wash
    2. Clay as needed
    3. ColorX
    4. Wax

        Hard to say.

The Nxt 2.0 has a good shine.

Gold Class + or #26 is a bit more rich.

People are a bit undecided it seems on the looks of Ultimate Wax. Looked good to me, but my car is light blue.

If you would like to work through your car, best to start your own thread.

          Congrats on your purchase!

I would take a look at Ultimate Wax. I used it on my red car and have been getting great results. When it rains, the water beads off better than any wax I have ever seen before. If you don't want to use Ultimate Wax, take a look at NXT 2.0, or M26 (High Tech Yellow Wax), as suggested. Anyone will certainly help your cars coat, and it can't hurt to experiment and find the one you like best.

My question is that I have a black 07 M35 and I am challenging myself to keep this black clean and shiny. If i wash my car once a week should I polish each wash and wax or is it a certain amount of times per year. Thanks.

Might be best for your own thread if you really want to get into your car specifically, but in general:

              - You would wash and do a detail of some sort: claying, cleaning, cleaner/wax, wax, etc that was wanted.

              - You would wash every week or two (touching the car more often isnt always good)

              - You would follow up the wash (or while drying) with a spray of Ultimate Quick Wax.

              - When the UQW seems to be dragging, hard to apply, or your water is just not running or the car well at all, you would consider when to re-detail.

Another option, (and I alternate as needed), is to use Ultimate Wash and Wax for the 'weekly' washes, when I dont have time to worry about UQW after. So I keep a regular wash like Gold Class for when detailing or spray waxing after, and UW&W for when in a hurry.

Id use the ultimate wax and using ultimate polish prior to applying wax. Honestly, this wax and polish really is the ultimate =]. I think you will be happy with the shine, crystal clear reflections and protection/durability of that wax and polish.
