  • deep crystal polish and ulitmate wax

I used deep crystal polish and the followed immediately with ultimate wax. My paint is in brand new condition. The feeling of the paint was some what oily after the wax was removed. Is this from the polish, I dont remember it feeling this way with wax only. Is this normal or does that mean the wax did not adhere?

Immediately following the wipe off of Ultimate Wax you will likely feel what you describe, or even see it under a very bright and direct light. This is simply due to the polymers not yet having crosslinked and bonded fully; it takes 12 to 24 hours for this curing process to complete.

hi mike, you said that 12 to 24 hour until the curing process complete, but we can wipe off the residu before the curing process right ?

and i'm little bit confuse with swipe test...no matter i try, 5 minutes, 1 hour and last time i try 7 hour, the result is always same...
do i need to be under the full sun so see wether it's haze or clear ?

Ultimate Wax may not pass the swipe test. It acts a different way. You may wipe it off pretty quickly, like after 3-5 minutes, without sacrificing its look/ protection.

All other Meguiar's waxes usually dry within 20-45 minutes.

Curing time for synthetic waxes (sealants) is about 12 hours (NxT Tech Wax 2.0, Synthetic Sealant 2.0) and 12-24 hours for Ultimate Wax. After curing time wax/ sealant is fully bonded with car paint surface and you can apply another coat of wax/ sealant if you want to.

There are two timelines to consider when applying a synthetic sealant:
              • Drying Time - this is the time it takes for the "carrier ingredients" to dry to haze so that you can wipe off the residue. "Carrier ingredients" are the things that make a liquid a liquid or make a paste a paste. They aren't the active ingredients that do the actual protecting or that add shine, but they "carry" those actives to the surface and allow you to spread them out. Drying Time is usually 5 to 30 minutes depending on the product, how heavily it's applied, and ambient temperature and humidity.
              • Curing Time - this is the time it takes for the polymers (the "active" ingredients, so to spead) to fully crosslink and bond to the paint. This process is less dependent on temperature and humidity and usually takes somewhere between 12 and 24 hours to complete. You can actually see this with some products by shining a very bright light onto the paint and wiping with a dry microfiber towel; a long streak or smudge will appear, and if you follow that wipe with another at 90 degrees to the first, the smudge will also appear to move by 90 degrees. This is you literally pushing the not quite cross linked polymers around on the paint. Come back 10 to 12 hours later and try this again you might see a very short streak or smudge, and if you time it just right, you can actually watch that short streak disappear before your eyes. This is when the crosslinking/bonding process is nearly complete. Later still a wipe with the towel will reveal none of this - just clear, glossy paint.

In cases of very high humidity, and especially if the product is applied a bit heavy, the swipe test may not work quite the same. With Ultimate Liquid Wax specifically, we are finding that the swipe test is almost invalid and that on darker paint it's actually best to ignore any swipe test and remove the excess after just 3 to 5 minutes regardless of how it looks. Doing this can eliminate that sometime blotchy appearance without losing any level of protection or longevity of the product. It should be noted that this is the ONLY LSP we make that we recommend this process for. All other Meguiar's waxes and sealants should be allowed to dry fully before wipe off.

                Hi guys,

i have a query regarding the order of usage, of DC #2 pure polish and speed glaze.Should i apply the DC #2 on top of the speed glaze or its the other way round.

My guess is DC #2 on top of speed glaze as speed glaze has some abrasive properties in it.

                Experts your opinions.
