  • Another one bites the dust

While using my microfiber cutting disk if kind of flew away.
No it did not get hot,,aware of this and check it frequently. For no apparent reason it just fell apart. Back came unglued. Oh well, good thing they come in pairs.

I think the recommendation is speed 4. Having said that, the problem you described has been a common one with the new cutting pads. Drop an email to Brian Hann (bhann@meguiars.com) for a replacement

It really does not matter that much since I only used it on 2 cars. Mine and my brothers. Just a hobby for this retired old man. But it was funny the way it flew apart.

I have no problem personally helping forum members, but for most situations it would be better to contact our customer care center at (800) 347-5700 or by email at customercare@meguiars.com. There are always reps answering the phone during business hours who can handle just about any situation. Going this route makes it easier for us to document feedback and often leads to a faster resolution for you.

They key here is the speed. As with most products, people assume "If a little is good, more is better," not true when it comes to many things - including speed with the microfiber pads.

Stick with the recommended speeds for sure - the beta testers found time and time again that not only does the excess speed damage the pads, but it actually produces less favorable results in many cases.

Re: Another one bites the dust

Reminds me of how the wool pad flew off my Harbor Freight variable speed rotary. It was truly variable speed since the thing would speed up on it's own.

I was working on my '91 SHO, and picked up the rotary after a pass, it throttled up, and the woolie flew off, frisbee'd across the yard, over the fence, and onto the highway next to my house. Looked at my neighbor who was standing there and said "well, I guess I'm done for right now."
