  • How many of you actually use quick detailer on a dusty car?

Hey guys i've been hearing this over and over about how well this works. But im not going to lie it scares the **** out of me to go start wiping dust all over my car does it actually not scratch the car? How does ultimate QD compare to final inspection, i usually buy FI by the gallon i use it so much haha.

    Thanks for you time guys

UQD is great, I've never used FI so I cannot compare.
I've used UQD on my cars many times...dusty, sometimes after driving in rain. I can only tell you that my 2005 G35 coupe looks better than some people's 2010 cars...I tend to spray a lot of it on and use 10+ MF cloths.....UQD & M135 are great products...

I use QD to remove dust. Yes, dry wiping can cause micro scratches on a dusty car, at least on soft Honda paint. If you don't care what your car looks like from less than 5-10 feet away, it may not matter. However, if you are someone who inspects the paintwork up close under good lighting, at various angles, you may re-consider dry wiping.

The key is light dust... if not sure, then dont do it.

But definatley QD (or similar) for bird droppings, and that sort of thing you need ot get off the paint.

I only use UQD or LT to help dry the car. I never dust off the car with QD... I'm too afraid to scratch up the paint. Besides, you're only saving 10-15 mins by QD'ing your car so might as well just wash it lol!

The only time a vehicle gets a wipedown is if it sat in a garage overnight and still needed work the next morning.

Good point. If I have time to QD my car, then I have time to give it an ONR wash, which is what I often opt to do. I keep a spray bottle of Last Touch in the trunk along with a few microfiber towels for spot duty (bird bombs mostly).

If the car has a lot of dust or not I always use my Cal. Duster before I begin.
Very important to use light pressure when using the CD, really, no pressure at all is needed.
Then with a good Waffle MF then you use the QD.
No problems with my black car.
I also wash my car at least once a week if it needs it or not just to keep the paint from building up with product.

I used some UQD today after a quick rinse off. Came out great!

It's nice to see someone else using the CD, I bought one as well. I have the large one and small one for the inside. I wash my fairly new car every 2 weeks and in between washes I was at first just spraying water and using a micofiber cloth until I was told that that can scratch the paint. I live in San Diego and keep the car garaged but I like to give it good wipe down every day after I get home from work. I was using water on the front to get the little bug that would be smushed into the front of the car. Reading in the forums it seems that people were using QD to remove dusk from the car.

I think that using the California Duster lightly on the car to remove surface layer of dust and then using the QD is the way to go but let me know if this is wrong. I don't like any dust getting on the card but I have to park outside at work and it will get a thin film on it usually and I can't stand letting it stand on there when I know I can do something about it.

So it's California Duster and QD everyday in the afternoon for the car for now.

Doing it daily is fast and safe on the paint.
My MF doesn't show much, if any soil after dusting with the CD.
I have no problems with swirls or scrathes on my black SUV so I must be doing something right.

That works also, getting most of the dust is important before touching the paint.

I use a California car duster then I go for my QD. Understand I wont do this on an extremely dusty car.

I do that routine daily since I dont park my car out side at night. I can go some time 1-2 days in between QD with the California Duster.

There come a point though where common sense takes over and you just wash your car.

Our two daily drivers have the basics:
                              • California Dusters
                              • Ultimate Quik Detailer
                              • Ultimate Quik Wax
                              • Glass Cleaner - from the gift packs
                              • Assorted Microfibers
                              • Absorbers
                              • Waffle Weaves

This time of year, realistically year round, it feels like a losing battle.
