  • Decent cheap buffer?

As per my other thread I am looking to redo the nxt I tried out yesterday with some #26

I figured id step it.up to a buffer instead of by hand.

As much as id love the dual action polished from M its a bit pricey...

Just to tie into your other thread, putting on the wax by hand or machine wont really change how it looks in the end.

It would be from using the machine with a paint cleaner where you could work a product into the pant more, with a better chance of removing defects, etc, that would change how the paint looks.

So am I better off saving the money and sticking to an applicator pad and elbow grease?

Side note, I wanna work the wax in circular motions when putting it on, or taking it off?

I've got a couple of Porter-Cable's. Purchased one during an internet Christmas sale, the other at Lowe's since it was missing parts (side handle and wrench).

However, I drool when I see someone using a Meguiar's.

I don't think that is what Murr said. The machine does a better job at correction, at least in my opinion.

Doesn't matter about direction of applying wax. Coverage is what matters. Taking off is a matter of getting it all, without rubbing so much you rub it completely off.

I mean that elbow grease or a machine with a wax wont change much for you.

A wax should just be applied thin and gentle, and removed easily. There is no real effort with a wax, because it doesnt do anything to the surface. It just sits there and protects it.

A paint cleaner that can remove swirls/defects needs to be worked in to do its job. You have to actually apply some energy to remove some paint and remove the defects. That is where the effort would be, and the machine would help.
