  • how do i get this out?

i noticed this on the 2nd day i picked up my new car

it's on the front of bumper near the mazda logo.

It looks like some kind of scuff mark (even though it's a brand new car, where did this come from? I'm thinking the dealer ran it through an auto wash)

anyone know how I can get this out?

    Thanks!

Well, if it is down to the plastic, you are stuck.

If it is just really hazed paint, you can get some ScratchX 2.0 or Ultimate Compound and work it in well over the area.

      down to the plastic...hmmm

i mean, the surface feels rough...and i tried quick detailer over it which did nothing....

      what could have caused this?

will trying the DC2 Polish make the condition worse? (I do'nt have $ for ultimate compound...just got the the DC2 polish and cleaner wax, also the DC1 Paint cleaner)

I tried claying too, but that didn't work

DC2 and claying really won't work since DC2 has no abrasives whatsoever (just polishing oils) and claybar will only remove above surface contaminants. It won't make the condition worse though.

try scratchX 2.0 first, take your time in working it, don't put too much pressre. If not, ultimate compound. you can also try using a microfiber/terry towel if the foam applicator isn't strong enough.

so what happen was...i work next to a metal fabrication shop, and they are constantly painting things....
I was quik detailing my car when this guy told me to put some compound on it, that it'll be better....

anyways, during lunch time, he helped me get rid of that scratch....

he started out with some 2000 grit sandpaper with water....then put this big red plastic looking thing (not sure what that was...hard compound?) along with the wet sanding...

then he used a makita buffer, and used some kind of 3M compound. So it was a 3 step process where the compound got finer and finer...and he changed the buffing pad along with it...

          check it out!

he did it for free...but i gave him $10 even tho he wouldn't accept it...
I asked him if I could use the buffer so he coached me a little...totally worth the 10 dollars....even though 10 bucks is a lot to me! that's almost money for 2 lunches! (i'm poor)
